CONTACT WARHOL: PHOTOGRAPHY WITHOUT END

Cantor Arts Center, Stanford, CA

Contact Warhol: Photography Without End was an exhibition at the Cantor Center for the Arts at Stanford University. The design took advantage of the massive number of objects to stack artwork on the walls, spatially illustrating Warhol’s creative process starting with the contact sheets and polaroids displayed in cases at table height, and then moving up on the wall to show progressively larger scale works. By reproducing the very small-scale contact sheets at various scales and deploying them as friezes and murals throughout the gallery, the contact sheets were given major visual and spatial presence.
