BEMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL

Middletown, CT

As a result of district consolidation, a new 160,000 sf middle school replaced the existing schools on the same site. Located on a tight suburban 17-acre campus, construction occurred in three phases. The first phase included abatement and demolition of the existing auditorium and administrative offices. Phase two was the construction of the new school, and phase three demolished the remainder of the existing facility. The new school was designed as three “houses” with STEAM labs, an innovation learning laboratory, and maker space. The school meets CT High Performance Building Standards and is a LEED Silver equivalent.
