WORCESTER ART MUSEUM ARMS AND ARMOR GALLERY RENOVATION

TSKP x IKD is designing a permanent gallery for the Worcester Art Museum to house the Higgins Armory Collection, the second largest arms and armor collection in the US. The 1500+ objects range from ancient Egypt to 19th C Japan, to medieval and Renaissance Europe. The project consists of two gallery spaces created from the museum’s former library space: a formal gallery to display collections highlights in the front, and an open storage with conservation area and interactive activity zones in the back. We are acting as both the architect of record and exhibition/graphic designer for the project. The project scope includes full gallery renovation and collections reinstallation, casework design, building system upgrades, facade work and window replacement, and lighting system upgrades.
