This project involved the design of several new spaces that were built tohouse a private collection of Asian artwork. TSKP x IKD designed customcasework with integrated storage to display ceramics in adedicatedroom, as well as a suite of art display apparatus in a large galleryincluding a freestanding wall system, display tables, and a large pedestalfor Japanese folding screens. The apparatus was required to be versatilein function and capacity in order to accommodate the growing collectionas well as rotating exhibitions. The ceramics case, a modern take onJapanese temple architecture, was engineered so that even whenshelves are moved around, they are constantly supplied with power forlighting. All hardware is invisible. The freestanding wall system in themain gallery featured large yet slim and lightweight panels anchored byblocks with an internal vise mechanism. Display tables which could becombined on end to create long display surfaces forhandscrolls hadremovable glass tops. All apparatus was designed to be easily moved byone person.
